The ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office) has been writing to UK registered businesses asking them if they need to pay their data protection fee. If you have received a letter from the ICO, don’t ignore it or you could face extensive fines.

Please see below decision tree you need to follow to reach the conclusion.

If you have a contracting company and does not employ external staff you should be exempted. Exemptions can be applied via www.ico.org.uk/no-fee

If you employ external staff members or run a Property company which holds personal details of the tenants, you will have to register and pay the £40 annual fee to ICO.
